I received some sad news last night about a past member Patricia Tennant past away early hours on the 4th December 09, she was laid to rest today at the Rookwood Cemetary, Pat lived at Ungarie NSW and became a member back in 1985 with the Palouse Association, she was born back on the 11th August 1947 she bred and showed Palouse Ponies for many years with the help of her son Charlie. She owned the SNOWSIDE PONY STUD, which over the years I know had some lovely Palouse Ponies as well as the Shetland Pony, you will be sadly missed my many, one of you best friends being Gloria McMahon will miss you deeply. My deepest sympathy goes to Charlie her son, I wish you well in your future. Regards Christine and those at Windemere at COBBITTY. NSW |

Hi my father owns a Palouse pony and he has had him for a very long time.
I was wondering if any one could help me work out how old he is as the pony was registered as a stalion many years ago while we were showing him.
The pony has since been geldedfor at least twenty years.
I think that his registered name was Kim Dandy Check I am not sure weather the spelling is right but I just want to know how old exactly Dandy is. |

Your site is an absolute blessing! Have wanted another palouse since I had to sell my blanket mare after a riding injury. Am now very interested in the miniature especially the loud coloured ones or blankets just like her. Wanting a weanling or yearling gelding or filly have no time for stallions at the moment. Are in a slight dilemma as I already own a 78cm mini shetland gelding who is 3 this yr and have to stable him as we have moved to town! Hopefully we will be moving in september otherwise it will be this time next year before I can take one on. So all the mini studs breeding these beautiful little ones keep me in mind if you have potential stock! I compete regulary on the show circuit and the gelding I have now is very spoilt. He is in the may edition of horse deals as a model for advanced rugs as I have his rugs ect custom made, any pony will have a wonderful home am very particular and love them very much, will pay the right price for the right little one terribly sorry to hear the passing of what sounds like a wonderful pony it is so hard and much sympathy to the passing of a wonderful lady as well. kind regards n. davis |

Sadly we lost our beloved Midac Flash on 18/12/05 after a paddock injury. He put up a great fight for two weeks but sadly lost his battle. I would like to take the opportunity to thank a few people....Jenny Johnson-Bade who gave us the privledge of owning Flashy for the last two years, he bought us enourmous love and joy. To all our friends in APPA that have been in touch and sent their well wishes. Thank you to our lovely Vet Olivia James who went above and beyond the call of duty, she shares our grief. Flash was only 3yrs old and recently broken into saddle, he was purchased with the intention of being a childs pony, knowing the breeding of the Midac ponies....we could not fault him at all. We will miss this little mate forever and tears still well to our eyes when we think or talk about him....like now! God Bless Midac Flash. |

It is with great sadness, that we have just learnt that a very fine Lady, Beryl Hayes has passed away. Beryl was a true identity of the national breed of the Palouse, and one of the founders of this breed. She was a tireless worker in not only for the Palouse, but for all horse breeds. A very astute secretary and most knowlageable lady. It would be fitting if your Association (Palouse) would dedicate an event or award to her memory Beryl should not be forgotten for her deeds that she done for the horse world. God bless a true Lady, Regards Barrie R Tapp |

Just a sad note, for all the old members of APPA. Friday 13th May 2005, Alameda Patch, commonly knowns as Patch passed away at 28 years. We purcahsed patch off the Wallace's of Whittlsea (VIC) some 23 years ago. I finished offically riding Palouse Ponies 15 odd years ago and Patch became a "paddock" horse, living the life of luxury. Occassionally getting a saddle on him for a little girl/boy to be led around the paddock & enjoy the experience of riding a horse/pony. Patch had won several national titles, several ROM's & even competed against Appaloosa's & Quarters Horse's - giving them a run for their money. My whole family had several long years of association with the APPA & had many years of enjoyment riding Palouse Ponies. |

Just like to let you guys know how "Coalman Park Little Star" went at the Canberra Royal. She carried my seven year old son to 3rd in the boy rider 6 under 9 class, And second in the boy rider 6 under 9 PC mount. She performed like a true champion, she also hacked her little heart out in the open ring, however didn't get a call. A lot of people came up and said the quote "it was her broken colour" and I informed them that. THAT IS WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HER... Deanna Caddy.
Hopefully more results comming from Bathurst Royal. Maybe 2 better and grand nationals. not bad for a spotted pony.... |
